Old timer bird.

Just a little sketch I did last night.

Princess

A sketch I did during downtime at work. I've started throwing a bit of colouring and shading on it, but I'm still playing with ideas.

It is an honour for me to see my Cat image published in the "10 best of" section of this january 2D artist magazine.
I highly encourage everyone to get this magazine which is full of goodness. I mean, c'mon! It's gotta be good if my painting is in it, right?

New section.

I've added a new section to the blog. It's a wallpaper section, where I put some of my images formated to wallpaper size (1280x1024). Please don't interpret this as me being upmyself and thinking my work is worthy of being a wallpaper. I just like to have some of my images in the background where ever I'm working. It forces me to look at them, and sometimes I find faults or learn things from it... Putting them up on my blog makes it easy for me to always be able te access them. But, by all means, feel free to use as wallpaer yourself if you want to... You can even tell me if you do, so it makes me feel all warm and happy inside. :D

Here's the link to the Wallpapers section.

The Cat's back.

Everytime I saw this image of my cat, there was something that bugged me. It was around the connection between his feet and the ground. It felt really pasted on. Then it came to me! A slight dark gradient going from the feet and fading up! It direct the attention more to the face and makes the connections of the feet to the ground more beleivable...

Warthog.

What do you do when your best mate who lives across the world, gives you a phone call and asks you to model and rig a warthog so that he can animate it for his reel?... Most people would say, a warthog?!? What's the matter with you Dave?!? It's the ugliest animal on the surface of the earth! But I said: "Hell yeah!!!"

Updates on my Tribe woman.

Nothing too crazy there. started Zbruhing some elements for simple detail. Like the cloth and the wrinkles around her mouth.

New Quick Phtoshop sketch

This time I just did a revamp of that minautor thing i did earlier... It's not completely finished, but i think it served its purpose.

New project.

Ok, I was tossing up whether to post this up or not. So i decided to just one "wip" image that shows the direction i'm going in with my new project...

PS: the other ones are not abandonned, they are just on pause while my machine at home gets fixed...

Hopefully this one should be ok.

Note: NONE of the shading/surfacing/texturing is done! There's only a lowres colour maps on the face and dress so far. So don't start throwing rocks at me... It is a wip!

Steps to paint the Captain.

Not that it's a ground breaking painting, but here are some steps I took to do it. Just in case anyone is interested.

Aye, aye, captain!

Just a quick photoshop doodle...

Michael Halford's Digital painting blog.

Ok, for those of you who don't look at my links regularly, i'd like to point out that i've recently added Michael Halford's blog there. Michael is my art director on many projects here at animal Logic and for good reason. His work is amazing and well worth checking out. Don't hesitate to throw him comments, he's always very happy to hear what the world has to say about his work. I for one love the style and purity of his digital paintings. I didn't know it was digital until I actually asked!
